With everyone and everything around us filling our minds with noise, distraction, and constant movement, we often forget that The Most High doesn’t just want a place in our hearts — He desires to be welcomed into our everyday environment too. Once the intangible connection is made, a physical change naturally occurs to reflect what is inside. Just like we make room for work, rest, and entertainment, we also need to intentionally make space for The -Most High in our humble abodes. (Deuteronomy 6:8-9)

Creating a sacred space at home is not about building something grand or religiously traditional — it’s about making your home centered around reverence so your spirit can reconnect with The Creator on a regular basis. It’s subtle changes around every corner of your home that remind you of Him and your relationship every where you turn. It’s equivalent to having pictures of your family, spouse, or friends around the house. You not just see them on the walls, stands, or fridge, but you feel the memories and the essence of those captured created moments in time.

Why a Sacred Space Matters

Other than making your entire home full of reminders and connections with The Creator, having a designated space to commune with The Most High helps create rhythm and intention. It’s a gentle reminder to realign your thoughts, quiet your soul, and return to what’s eternal. In the same way we go to the gym to train our bodies, or the office to get work done, we can return to our sacred space to nourish the soul. Giving Him the same dedicated time and space just like any other activity allows us to connect with Him on a regular involuntary as it becomes apart of everyday life thus strengthening the overall relationship with The Creator.

It becomes your altar of peace, prayer, and presence — a sanctuary in the middle of your busy life.

How to Create Your Sacred Space

You don’t need a spare room or a full renovation. A sacred space can be a small corner in your bedroom, a cozy spot by the window, or even a simple shelf or mat. What matters is the intention behind it.

Here are a few gentle ways to set it up:

  • Clear the clutter
Start with a clean area. The act of physically removing distractions mirrors the inner clearing we do during prayer and reflection.
  • Add meaningful items
Place things that inspire your spirit — a Bible or sacred text, a journal, a candle, a small plant, photos, or stones. Let it be personal.
  • Invite the senses
Burn incense, light a candle, or use essential oils that bring you peace. Sound can also play a role — maybe soft worship music, nature sounds, study instrumentals, or complete silence.
  • Use it consistently
Visit your space daily, even for a few moments. Pray, meditate, journal, or simply sit. Over time, that space will begin to feel like home — a place where heaven and earth meet in your heart.

The Deeper Purpose

Creating a sacred space isn’t just about decoration — it’s about dedication. It’s your offering. Your “yes” to slow down and dwell with The Most High. And as you consistently return to that space, something beautiful happens: it begins to shape you. You’ll find that making space for Him physically helps you open space for Him internally — in your thoughts, emotions, and decisions.

This is the pathway to finding Beauty in the Debris — where stillness collides with shattered places. When you invite The Most High into the mess, light seeps through the cracks, and you begin to see yourself as He always has. In seeking Him, you’re not just finding refuge — you’re uncovering fragments of your soul, through His presence.
