There are seasons when your soul feels distant from your Maker—times when you question your direction, your purpose, or even your identity in the eyes of the Most High. In these moments, you may feel spiritually lost. But feeling lost does not mean you’ve been abandoned. In fact, it can mean that is all the more reason to draw close and seek character and personality of the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Many people think that walking with The Most High is supposed to be a straight and steady path—but often, the journey looks more like hills and valleys, detours and delays. Prioritizing a relationship with the Most High doesn’t always feel neat, consistent, or easy. But it’s not about perfection—it’s about pursuit. Having the heart to seek Him, even when you don’t feel “put together,” is enough to start with.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Most High is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Being spiritually lost is not a sign that He has left you—it may be the very space where He meets you most intimately. Him allowing you to feel such lack of presence or purpose in your life is Him showing you that you haven’t been prioritizing Him and making decisions that are no good for you. This is a time to truly reflect on WHY you have gotten where you are and HOW you have allowed yourself to feel so lost in purpose.

When you feel disconnected, pause. Sit in the silence and simply invite His presence. You don’t need fancy words or elaborate rituals—just a willing heart. Speak honestly because he knows what’s in your heart regardless of if you speak on it or not. The whole point of being honest out-loud to Him is to be honest to yourself. To allow Him to show you who you are and what you’ve done good or bad. This simple cry for connection is powerful, because it shifts the focus from self-reliance, independence, the self-made mindset to dependence on Him.

Grounding yourself in truth begins with remembering who He is: the Creator, the Sustainer, The One who formed you with intention and sees you with love. Open Scripture, even if only for a few minutes, and ask Him to reveal something new. Let His Word remind you of His character—faithful, merciful, patient, and Just actions.

Sometimes, the spiritual fog doesn’t lift all at once. But each step towards The Most High—each prayer, each moment of quiet, each surrender—is seen by Him. And He promises that those who seek will find (Jeremiah 29:13). You don’t have to “get it all right” before drawing near. Seeking Him is the pathway.

Also, remember: The Most High is not afraid of your questions, your doubt, or your confusion. He is big enough to hold it all, carry it all, or else why would He want all of mankind to trust and go to Him in times of need? And in the process of wrestling, you begin to uncover deeper truths—about who He is and who you are to Him.

So if you feel spiritually lost, don’t run away—lean in. Return to your Creator not with a perfect plan, but with a sincere heart. Your journey may not look like anyone else’s, and that’s okay. What matters is that you’re reaching, even if it’s with trembling hands.

Feeling lost should be an eye opener that you have veered from Him and the pathway He has set for you. With an intentional heart, He is ready to lead you back into Truth—one step, one prayer, one moment at a time.
